Anna Dunn is a screenwriter, literary fiction writer, and educator who grew up bouncing between a small Idaho ski town and a racehorse farm in Washington. She now teaches screenwriting as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Columbia University.

Her work spans many genres, forms, and even centuries, but consistently explores queer survival, gender expectation, neurodivergence, desire, and the absurdity of wealth. As a lesbian who grew up rural, she is naturally fascinated by insular communities and the ways people contort themselves to live within their norms.

Anna’s dramatic pilot, The Winner’s Circle, recently received Columbia University Film Festival’s Faculty Selects. She is currently working on her first novel, set in the same world.

Anna studied creative writing and biology at Sarah Lawrence College and graduated with a master’s degree in film from Columbia University in 2026. She is a New York Women in Film and Television Scholarship recipient. She currently lives in New York, but as long as she gets to keep writing and teaching, she could make do on Mars.
